White Bonnet

Anniversary! Ok, where's the fucking cake?

About a year ago today, twenty-three innocent young kids filed into a conference room on a quiet Midwest campus, and started their first day at a small but well-respected genre writing workshop - but little did they know THEY WOULD NEVER GET OUT ALIVE!!!!! [cue screaming and stabbity sounds] Seriously, it's hard to believe it's been a year. For example: I'm cranky and hot and can't write at my desk because the air conditioner is blowing in my face, and I don't have a single original story idea in my head, and I can barely finish what I've started. Wow. It's like I never left.

I suppose this is where I talk about how much I've grown as a person since Clarion ended, and how I've managed to hone my craft and how it's all about the art and being a literary genius, but also how I just want to write from my heart with the simple, plain language of the common man. But really, what I've learned is if I get off my lazy ass and write good stories, people will buy them and pay me with cash money! And kids, that's the most important lesson of all.

And good luck to the Clarion class of 2007, who start their journey today on a quiet little campus in sunny San Diego. I guess the only words of advice I can give you is: RUN! OMG RUN!!!! [cue screaming and stabbity sounds]
