Last story of Clarion

My last story is finished, clocking in at 6800 words. More than I wanted, but it's not an unmanageable amount, either for reading or editing. If I want to submit it to a YA publication like Cicada, I'll have to trim it to 5k. No, I'm not happy with it, but it's a first draft. I shouldn't expect so much, the first time around.

So, my writing at Clarion is over. Only three stories, but total word count was approximately 20,720 - which would average out to four stories at a little over 5k words each. I'm pleased with the amount I've written, considering I did it while reading and critiquing 104 stories at around 530,000 words (to date). And by Friday, I'll have the last of four in-workshop critiques, as my submission story "Take Your Daughters" was critted the first day of class.

My foot is a bit swollen, and I can barely put any weight on it, but it'll get better.

I'm exhausted. Time for bed.
