Sale x Three

Aklo Press is taking a novelette – “The Girls of the World” – and two poems” – “Silver Night Train” and “The God of Suburbia” – for their weird/dark/Lovecraftian anthology Aklonomicon, which will be published later this year. “Girls” will also get an illustration, although I don’t think the artist has been finalized, so I can’t say who’s under consideration. A partial list of contributors is here – you might recognize a few names.

FYI: “Girls of the World” is a story I wrote years ago, and then set aside because I wanted to expand it into a trilogy of novels set in a neo-Victorian Northwest replete with oppressed mechanical women, giant biomechanical spiders (and other creatures), strange and gentle mermen, and an army of wee tentacled daughters of Dagon, all struggling to free themselves from their rigid, wonder cabinet/museum diorama-like civilization. It’s not abandoned – I have a pile of about 50-60 books, and am STILL doing research on the fucking thing. Another FYI: “Silver Night Train” is the basis for my current novel-in-progress. Which I should get back to right about now…

Marine Autumn

I owe you marine autumn
With dankness at its roots
and fog like a grape
and the graceful sun of the country;
and the silent space
in which sorrows lose themselves
and only the bright crown
of joy comes to the surface.

--Pablo Neruda.
