End of the blah blah blah...

Almost everyone's posting end-of-year writing stats - I'll do that tomorrow, over on my website. As for a year-end summation, I'm tempted to say that this was a crappy year, but only because it wasn't a particularly stellar year, with some big awesome writing-related achievement that might have made all the shit more tolerable. I think it more likely was an average year, no better or worse than 2007. Average is considered unacceptable for most people, but sometimes we just have years like that, for whatever reasons. I'm not going to mentally beat myself up about it. I don't have resolutions as much as a multi-step plan to make 2009 a bit better for me in all areas (except the fucking apartment - I'm stuck here another two years, and it's not like housing in the tri-state area will get cheaper or better in that time, so I'll probably always be trapped in some horrific living arrangement - yay!). I might post parts of the plan on LJ - I'm not sure yet. In the meantime, I'm going to drink hot eggnog and rum, watch the ball drop on TV (I did the New Years Eve in Times Square thing in 1999 - NEVER AGAIN), and listen to the sounds of the Yip Dog completely losing his shit because he's stuck all alone in some weird apartment in Jersey City. Oh baby, I know exactly how you feel.
