Not dead, just busy

And we all know that "busy" is the fancy-pants way of spelling "lazy".

Still reading tons of books. Still writing, albeit slowly. I have no intention of posting end-of-year stats until it is actually after the end of the year. Herbert is healthy and alive, and killing all the daddy long legs that got confused yesterday in the SIXTY-FIVE-DEGREE weather and tried to take over the apartment. The Yip-Dog still won't shut the fuck up. Life is normal, if not exciting.

In other news, next week I'll be doing this:

Two Cranes Press presents A Field Guide to Surreal Botany, an anthology of fictional plant species that exist beyond the realm of the real, fully illustrated in gorgeous full-color by Janet Chui. The specimens contained herein - dutifully and, in some cases, painfully recorded by our keen-eyed assortment of contributing cryptobotanists, field researchers, and graduate assistants (laden with glass jars, magnifying glasses, and appropriate body armor) - will be presented in erudite detail by eight of our contributors.

When: Friday, December 19 from 7pm-9pm
Location: KGB Bar
85 East 4th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Aves)
Near N, R, 4, 5, 6 and L
Admission: free

Marine Autumn

I owe you marine autumn
With dankness at its roots
and fog like a grape
and the graceful sun of the country;
and the silent space
in which sorrows lose themselves
and only the bright crown
of joy comes to the surface.

--Pablo Neruda.
