Party like it's 2009?

I was thinking this morning of maybe getting an Amtrak ticket down to DC for the inauguration, even though I knew I'd be half a mile a way down the avenue with a million other people, staring at the ceremony from a JumboTron. But: tickets have already sold out. Greyhound, too. I'm a little annoyed at myself - I should have thought of this about a MONTH ago, lol. Those of you on my f-list who are planning road trips to DC, good luck with that. You should probably leave now, if you want a parking space. :P

So, I guess my next best bet would be: anyone in the NYC area planning an inauguration day party, and need someone to bring a case of Kenyan Tusker Beer (or two)? Because, I absolutely will NOT be coming to work on the 20th - no fucking way am I going to miss that ceremony. But I'd rather not sit at home and watch in silence - the occasion demands something better. Also, my TV reception is crappy, and I'm not interesting in watching the ceremony whilst covered in tin-foil and balancing the antenna on my head. I'd rather save that kind of crazy-ass behavior for work. :D

Marine Autumn

I owe you marine autumn
With dankness at its roots
and fog like a grape
and the graceful sun of the country;
and the silent space
in which sorrows lose themselves
and only the bright crown
of joy comes to the surface.

--Pablo Neruda.
