A lovely start to the new year

Ok, I admit it: I do ego-Google (is it called egooogling?) myself. On occasion. ::she lied:: And today I googled "The Four Hundred Thousand", only because it had received a few Nebula recs, but hasn't received any official reviews, much less a lot of mention in general. I didn't find much new, although I came across one blog whose owner confessed that they'd downloaded the story but never got around to reading it. Heh. But I also came across this lj community, which I didn't know existed until now: lastshortstory. It's a group of Australian writers & readers who are posting their thoughts on every single genre story and magazine they can lay their hands on. They say something quite nice about my story. Update: And here as well! So as not to be completely obnoxious, they also single out stories by rachel_swirsky and will_ludwigsen, among others.

Today I wrote 928 words on an underage lesbian sexx0oring horror story. Something tells me I ain't gonna get many kind words on this one. :P

Marine Autumn

I owe you marine autumn
With dankness at its roots
and fog like a grape
and the graceful sun of the country;
and the silent space
in which sorrows lose themselves
and only the bright crown
of joy comes to the surface.

--Pablo Neruda.
